R2 Leadership

DIRECTV and nine other organizations launched the R2 Leader program as founding members to advance the safe, responsible and sustainable repair and recycling of used electronics. Under the auspices of Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI), a nonprofit organization that develops policies and programs to advance sustainable electronics recycling, R2 Leaders advocate for R2-certified electronics repair and recycling and consider R2 certification when choosing a recycling partner. The R2 Standard was created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, electronics manufacturers, recycling companies, nonprofit organizations and other groups. Electronics recycling and refurbishment facilities certified to the R2 Standard adhere to best practices in worker health and safety, environmental protection, chain-of-custody reporting and other measurements.
